Leeds United could rely on movement elsewhere to seal the signing of Nelson Deossa from Real Betis.

The Elland Road faithful are waiting to see the signing of James Trafford announced from Manchester City.

That is certainly causing some anxiety among supporters, but it does appear that a deal will be pushed over the line.

It could be a similar test that is faced away from Yorkshire as the Whites eye further reinforcements.

The defensive midfielder has caught the eye in La Liga and looks set to be on the move this summer.

Deossa has emerged as a new target in LS11, but Daniel Farke and Co. may have to hope for a delay elsewhere to seal a deal.

Nelson Deossa to halt pending transfer after Leeds United interest

There is seemingly an ambition to bring in additional midfield depth at Elland Road.

Shea Charles has been mooted as a potential signing all summer, but looks set to go elsewhere, likely to Fulham.

Alternatives seem to be in the pipeline in West Yorkshire as the new Premier League season closes in.

Spanish outlet Mundo Betis reported on Wednesday that Leeds are now closely monitoring a move for Deossa.

The Colombian had been central to talks with Brazilian side Vasco da Gama, but those have been put on hold.

The 26-year-old has asked for that deal to be halted with the chance to move to England now possible.

Leeds scouts will reportedly be in attendance as Betis face Arsenal in Dublin on Wednesday to get a better look at the midfielder.

Ipswich, West Ham and Wolves are also mentioned as interested.

How much could Leeds pay for Deossa?

With a move to Vasco now seemingly off the cards, it could give the Whites a perfect chance to swoop in.

The question will now be what sort of fee Real Betis could demand for his signature.

Various reports suggest that he had been set to move to Brazil on loan with an obligation to buy for £8.5million with an additional £1.7m in potential add-ons.

There is an expectation that the La Liga outfit could demand a higher price from Leeds should they make an offer.

That isn't helped by Deossa's former club having a 15 per cent sell on clause, so it could take closer to £15m for Farke's side to get a deal done.
