MOT View: £4m-rated player reportedly considers future at PL giants, music to the ears of Leeds

Sergio Romero is considering his future at Manchester United amid recent links with a surprise move to Leeds United.

According to The Metro, Romero, 33, expected to play in goals as Man United lost to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals last week and is said to be “demoralised” by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to overlook him in favour of out-of-sorts David De Gea.

It is understood that Romero is now considering his future at Old Trafford, which could play perfectly into the hands of Leeds.

Man United will reportedly accept just £4millon for the Argentina international, who is now in the final year of his contract Old Trafford.

Leeds are likely to be on the hunt for a new goalkeeper with doubts surrounding Kiko Casilla’s future after his ban for racism and poor form in the Championship.

Illan Meslier’s been signed permanently so a second-choice goalkeeper is already sorted for Marcelo Bielsa, who now just needs to find someone who can replace Casilla.

Argentinean TV show Presion Alta, aired on TyC Sports, has reported that Leeds are interested in signing Romero in the summer transfer window.

A deal for the former Monaco goalkeeper would make a lot of sense given the fact he’s Argentine, like Bielsa, has a lot of experience, like Casilla, and fills a gap that is likely to emerge in the Leeds squad.

The Metro’s report that claims Romero is now considering his options at Man United is likely to be music to the ears of Bielsa and Victor Orta, who should not have too much difficulty in luring an unhappy number two goalkeeper to become a number one at a newly-promoted club.

In other Leeds United news, Adrian Durham has suggested a move to Leeds for this big-money Manchester City player.
