Medical on Tuesday: Elia Caprile on verge of Leeds United exit to sign for Bari
Leeds United goalkeeper Elia Caprile is set to undergo a medical with Italian club Bari on 28 June, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Writing via his personal website on Tuesday (28 June), the Sky Sports Italy journalist reports that Caprile, 20, is set to have his medical checks before joining Serie B side Bari on a permanent basis.
It is understood that the former Italy Under-18s goalkeeper is signing a three-year contract with Bari, who won promotion from Serie C last season.
Di Marzio’s report also shows an image of Caprile after he underwent his medical checks, which you can see below alongside a translated version of his report.
All but done
What other proof do you need that this deal is as good as done?
Di Marzio is one of the most reliable journalists in Italian football and in this case, he’s reporting on an Italian player leaving an Italian-owned club to join a club in Italy.
He’s also backed that up with an image as proof so there you go – Caprile is off.
We now expect to see an official announcement from either Bari or Leeds to confirm that Caprile has joined the Serie B club.
Caprile never got to make a senior appearance for Leeds.
He made the bench a number of times for Marcelo Bielsa but he was always behind either Kiko Casilla or Illan Meslier in the pecking order.
Last season, he played on loan at Pro Patria in Serie C.
He played regularly there, keeping 13 clean sheets in 39 appearances across all competitions.
Caprile is a goalkeeper who could come good in the future so we hope there’s a sell-on clause involved in the deal that sees the former Chievo youngster return to Italy on a permanent basis.
Good luck, Elia.
