Arsenal and Chelsea table bids for Leeds United star Raphinha in new Sunday transfer twist

Arsenal and Chelsea have both tabled bids to sign Leeds United winger Raphinha on Sunday, according to Marca.

The Spanish newspaper reported on Sunday morning (26 June) that “in the last hours”, proposals have been made for the 25-year-old Brazil international by the two London clubs but there’s still no agreement with the Whites.

Barcelona are reportedly yet to make a formal offer for Raphinha but they are willing to wait until 30 June to see what happens with Ousmane Dembele and his contract situation.

Marca claims Raphinha is currently on holiday in Ibiza.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, Raphinha shared an image of himself in a nightclub with his agent Deco on Instagram.

Getting closer

If Arsenal and Chelsea have got anywhere near to Leeds’ asking price for Raphinha then they’ll have to accept.

However, what the Whites should be doing is starting off a bidding war for the Brazilian to get as much money for him as possible.

Leeds seem to be selling Kalvin Phillips on a shockingly cheap deal so they need to get whatever they can for Raphinha as he was one of the best players in the Premier League last season.

Raphinha is a Brazil starter, he’s a proven source of goals and assists in the Premier League and he keeps getting better and better.

If Leeds can get £65million for him, that’s good.

But if both Arsenal and Chelsea meet that, Leeds should be saying that they’ll sell to the highest bidder and try to squeeze them for whatever they can get.

Raphinha will be worth the money for them.

We have no preference about which team we’d rather see him join because he’ll probably get into both of their starting line-ups.

But Chelsea boast Champions League football and a better guarantee of silverware.

Raphinha might be more keen on joining them and Deco, a former Chelsea player, could agree.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been told to sign a “like-for-like” replacement for Kalvin Phillips as Victor Orta opens talks with a target.
