Matheus Cunha likes 'Leeds-bound' comment on Instagram amid transfer speculation
Hertha Berlin star Matheus Cunha has liked an Instagram comment that says he’s headed to Leeds United this summer.
German newspaper BILD has reported that Leeds are interested in signing Cunha, 22, this summer while Hertha are ready to sell the Brazilian forward for a fee of £34.3million.
Cunha has thrown petrol on the fire of speculation linking him with a move to Leeds by liking a comment from a Whites supporter which says “Leeds-bound”.
Cunha posted an image with the caption “recovery” on his personal Instagram account and that led to a flurry of eager Leeds fans replying.
Do we need to remind Leeds fans about Rodrigo De Paul’s social media activity last year?
Udinese’s De Paul was strongly linked with a move to Elland Road and he put out a tweet saying that he would be interested in doing just that.
That led to him deleting his Twitter account and the Leeds transfer speculation dying out to the point he stayed at Udinese for another year to tear up Serie A again.
Is Cunha being a tease? Or is he genuinely interested?
De Paul was probably genuinely keen on playing for Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League but there’s far more involved in a transfer deal than whether or not a player is interested.
Leeds will more than likely have to meet Hertha Berlin’s massive asking price for Cunha to strike a deal and it would be a club-record signing for the Yorkshire club if it happens.
We feel Cunha is very clearly a talented player but do we need him? While it would be nice to have him, we need other players in before another forward.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are after this £20million-rated ace who’s been relegated from the Premier League.
