Liverpool still appreciate Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville and talk of them moving on from the Dutchman is premature, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist reported in his Daily Briefing (9 June) that both the Reds and Chelsea have been scouting the Whites winger for months but are yet to start concrete negotiations with Daniel Farke's side.

Both clubs are still keen on securing the 22-year-old's signature this summer, but it remains to be seen whether or not that interest will transform into a genuine transfer push between now and the end of the window.

Writing in his Daily Briefing, he said: "Liverpool and Chelsea have both been scouting Crysencio Summerville for months, but then in terms of negotiations, nothing has started yet.

"Talk of the Reds no longer being interested in the winger can’t be true as it is still early for this transfer. The appreciation from both clubs is still there, so we have to see if they decide to approach Leeds for Summerville at some point during the transfer window."

Will Liverpool sign Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville during the summer transfer window?

It feels almost inevitable that Leeds United and Summerville will part ways this summer. The Dutchman has shown this season that he is too good for the Championship and he won't hang around Elland Road.

A move to Liverpool or Chelsea would appeal to most Championship players and while no official offer has yet been made, it wouldn't be a surprise if one arrived sooner rather than later as the window gets underway.

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke
Daniel Farke was unable to guide Leeds United to Premier League promotion

Farke and his side need to balance the books having missed out on promotion and Summerville is one of the most sellable assets in the squad alongside Archie Gray who the Whites are reluctant to lose during the off-season.

Hopefully, Leeds will at least be able to pocket a reasonable fee for the 22-year-old's services when he moves on. Any money that can be reinvested back into the side will be crucial.
