Liverpool stance on Archie Gray transfer shared as situation remains open
Liverpool have shown an interest in signing Archie Gray from Leeds United with the situation with Brentford remaining open, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer specialist has reported (30 June) that the Reds had links to the 18-year-old this summer but nothing was ever “concrete”.
Romano confirmed a move to Brentford remains the most likely option as Gray is due to have a medical on Sunday, with the Bees “clear favourites” to beat the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund to his signature.
There is still the chance of a hijack for the deal for Gray as “the situation remains open” until the Bees confirm a deal for him, the Italian journalist added.
Liverpool showed interest to Leeds United star Archie Gray
In a deal that has seemingly moved quite quickly, the teenage gem now looks set to move to the Premier League this summer.
After missing out on promotion through the play-offs last season, there was always a chance that key players would depart Elland Road but there had been very little indication that Gray would be moved on.
There has been plenty of interest reported in a transfer for the Englishman this summer but until the last couple of days it appeared he would stay. Now, though, Brentford appear to have won the race for the in-demand teenager in a sale that will really rankle with Leeds supporters.

A move to Liverpool to play in the Champions League may have felt like a more acceptable loss to supporters, though even that would still have been tough to take.
Losing Gray this summer was something that the Elland Road faithful would have wanted to avoid but it appears that his journey has come to an end this summer.
