Lewis O'Brien is now Leeds United top target
Leeds United have identified Huddersfield Town 22-year-old Lewis O’Brien as their top central midfield target this summer, according to Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist, writing via his personal Twitter profile on Tuesday, claims the Englishman is clearly being lined up by Marcelo Bielsa.
He said: “O’Brien is now the top target. But do you want to pay £10million? That’s where it’s at. And he is clearly for the first team squad not some development player. So pay up or move on.”
Trust at the top
Central midfield was a problem position of sorts for Leeds last season, despite the wealth of talent in those middle areas.
Kalvin Phillips established himself as one of the finest deep-lying midfielders around, but he missed a few games through injury and suspension and we struggled to properly replace him.

Mateusz Klich was one of the first names on the team sheet at the start of the season but appeared to tire as the campaign wore on, while Rodrigo, naturally an attacker, suffered a spate of injuries himself.
Stuart Dallas should get more games in the middle after the signing of left-back Junior Firpo, but it’s clear that another midfielder is required to strengthen our bid for another strong season in the Premier League.
O’Brien may not be the household name that some fans were crying out for, but he’s enjoyed a couple of successful seasons in the Championship for Huddersfield and if Bielsa and Victor Orta are happy for him to be the midfield signing, then so are we.
If we can snare him from the Terriers, Bielsa is sure to work his magic on him and turn him into an even better player.
Hopefully, a deal is agreed upon sooner rather than later.
