Levante want new deal for Dani Cardenas amid Leeds United interest
Levante are trying to tie down Dani Cardenes down to a new contract as Leeds United target the goalkeeper, according to Super Deporte.
The Spanish news outlet claims the 24-year-old’s contract expires at the end of next season so Levante want him to agree a new four-year deal with the option of an extra two years.
It is understood the La Liga club are also keen to tie in a huge release clause worth £42.6million.

Super Deporte adds that Leeds’ interest could open a new door for Cardenas but no offer has so far been made for him.
Move on
Leeds do need to sign a new goalkeeper this summer but they should not be signing someone who is older than Illan Meslier but also less experienced.
Cardenas is very accustomed to being a second-choice goalkeeper and at the age of 24, he’s made just 13 first-team appearances in his career.
That’s right – 13.
He made all 13 of those appearances last season for Levante with eight coming in La Liga – he kept a clean sheet versus champions Atletico Madrid in one match – and five of them in the Copa Del Rey.
Levante reached the semi-finals of the Copa Del Rey with Cardenas playing a big role but he was ultimately dropped for the second leg of the semi-final defeat to Athletic Bilbao.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Victor Orta has three goalkeepers on his shortlist as he aims to find a replacement for Kiko Casilla, who left Elland Road this week to join Elche on loan.
Cardenas is one while Valerenga’s Kristoffer Klaesson and Newcastle’s Freddie Woodman are others.
If we want a new number two who still has a bright future ahead of him then we should not be looking past Woodman, who’s proven himself in the Championship and is more than good enough for us.
In other Leeds United news, this goalkeeper has confirmed his arrival at Elland Road.
