Leeds United are in the hunt to sign Millwall defender Japhet Tanganga, according to The Express.

The newspaper reported via their website on 31 December that Wolves and RB Leipzig are also keen on the 25-year-old centre-back.

It is understood that Wolves are considering a bid to sign the former Tottenham ace in the January transfer window, but Millwall are not be ready to sell him on the cheap.

The Express claims that there's an agreement between Tanganga and Millwall that would see them at least consider Premier League interest in the coming weeks, even though there's a major reluctance to sell.

That likely means Leeds are at the back of the queue to sign Tanganga, who is viewed as a "revelation" in South East London.

Will Leeds sign anyone in the January transfer window?

Leeds are top of the Championship going into 2025 so based on what we've seen so far, it doesn't look as though any additions are needed.

The problem that Leeds face, however, is if some of their promotion rivals strengthen their squads.

Sheffield United and Burnley are hot on their heels in second and third respectively while a Sunderland resurgence cannot be ruled out after their stunning start to the campaign.

If those three sides invest - and invest well - in their squads in the coming weeks, that could present a problem for the Whites, who do have a squad that's more than capable of winning this league already.

It might be wise for Leeds to look at loan deals instead of splashing the cash on permanent deals.

If they do loans with option-to-buy clauses, they can make decisions in the summer depending on whether they win promotion or not.
