Leeds want to sign Club Brugge forward Noa Lang

Leeds United are in the hunt to sign Club Brugge forward Noa Lang although the Dutch ace “has a host of admirers”, according to Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath.

Writing on The Telegraph’s website, McGrath has reported that Leeds are interested in signing the 21-year-old after watching over the course of the season in Belgium.

Lang joined Brugge on loan from Ajax last summer but has since made the move permanent and scored 16 goals and supplied 10 assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.

It is understood that Lang is valued at £20million and while Leeds have watched over the Netherlands Under-21 international, they’re not the only ones keen on signing him.

Yet more depth

If there’s one thing we need to do in the summer, it’s to add strength in depth to a number of areas of the squad and Lang can do that.

According to transfermarkt, the Dutch ace has played on both wings and as a centre-forward for Brugge this season.

Marcelo Bielsa loves a winger and he also loves a versatile player, so there’s no denying that Lang ticks a couple of boxes for the Elland Road boss there.

But Lang’s scored a heap of goals in the Belgian league and that’s not that great – so what?

Well, Lang has proven he’s capable of netting on the big stage. In December, he scored in a win against Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League group stages to help Brugge finish third and qualify for the Europa League knock-out rounds.

Lang also has 12 goals in his last 15 matches, finding the back of the net against Anderlecht and Standard Liege in the process.

He’s young, he’s in stunning form and he’s attracting attention from all over the place. He’s definitely the kind of player we want to see at Elland Road next season.

Ajax breeds young stars and Lang could be the next to shine after coming off their production line.

In other Leeds United news, this pundit claims one of Bielsa’s mainstays knows the club wants to replace him in the summer.
