Leeds United's January transfer priorities: Three positions Daniel Farke will need to address
Leeds United will now start early planning ahead of the January transfer window.
The Whites conducted what looks like another successful summer of transfer business, and one they will be hoping helps push them up the Premier League table.
Seven new players were brought to the club, including the marquee additions of Harry Wilson and James Trafford.
But even though Daniel Farke brought Michael Zetterer, Melvin Bard and Jean-Mateo Bahoya to Elland Road before the window shut, he pushed for several other transfers that fell through
This could mean that the LS11 side currently have a few positions in their squad that may look to be upgraded come the January window.
Leeds have done their scouting, and so the mould that they want for certain positions is there.
The midfield debacle that rumbles on at Leeds after summer window
Leeds had a few cracks at trying to sign a defensive midfielder this summer, but were unable to do so.
Ethan Ampadu is arguably the first name on the teamsheet, but since last season, there has been a big debate over who starts next to him.
Ao Tanaka has had early success as the skipper's midfield partner this campaign, but always seems to have a period where he drops out of Farke's thinking.
With that said, it could explain why Leeds pushed so hard to sign Shea Charles from Southampton, who emerged as an early leading target before joining Fulham in a £30million deal.
Given that Charles was an early priority that the Whites had no plan B for, they could identify a new candidate to splash the cash on this winter.
Anton Stach has been pushed further forward, but could drop back next to Ampadu if Leeds do something else once the January window opens.
The two attacking areas Leeds may prioritise in January
For Stach to be pushed back into a more defensive midfield role, Leeds would have to sign another attacking midfielder.
Julian Brandt's father spoke with the Whites earlier this summer about the potential of his son joining the club.
In the end, the former German international held out for European football with Ajax, joining the Dutch giants on a free transfer.
But the speculation around Brandt and other similar targets prove that Leeds were keen to sign a natural 10, which they could try aim to do again in the winter.
The other area Leeds could prioritise is perhaps the most obvious position; a new striker.
Conrad Harder was heavily linked to the Whites ahead of the deadline, but ended up joining Strasbourg on-loan from RB Leipzig.
It would be no surprise if the main priority in the January transfer window was a new striker for Leeds to provide further competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha.
