Leeds United want quick announcement for Josuha Guilavogui transfer

Leeds United are looking to confirm the free signing of Josuha Guilavogui as soon as possible, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist posted on X (22 October) that Guilavogui has spent time at Thorp Arch in recent days, with Fabrizio Romano also reporting that an official statement is imminent.

Guilavogui has twice been pictured with fans this week at Elland Road against Sheffield United and Watford, with Daniel Farke finally deciding to sign the out-of-contract Frenchman.

Josuha Guilavogui brings Leeds United free agent hunt to an end

Capped seven times by Les Bleus, the 34-year-old defensive midfielder stands at six feet and two inches, allowing him to also cover centre-back if necessary this season.

Junior Firpo’s yellow card against Watford was his fifth of the season, meaning he’ll miss 26 October’s clash at Bristol City, and with Joe Rodon also one booking away from suspension, the timing is spot-on.

Guilavogui’s name has been one of several reported as Farke scoured the free agent market for cover following serious injuries to key players, with Cheikhou Kouyate also spending time at Thorp Arch [Adam Pope, 12 October].

But after a move for Kouyate broke down, attention has turned to Guilavogui to help plug the gaps left by the long-term absences of Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev in Farke’s double pivot.

With the experienced former France international now finally set to be unveiled as the Peacocks’ newest signing, Guilavogui can help to provide the midfield reinforcements Leeds need in the promotion race.

In other Leeds news, one United star has given Daniel Farke no option but to start him after what he did on international duty.
