Josuha Guilavogui has signed his contract to join Leeds United as a free agent, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian transfer journalist reported via his personal X account [23 October] that a deal has been completed, with an official statement to follow at Elland Road.

This comes after Daniel Farke was dealt injuries to both Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev, with a move for Ckeikhou Kouyate falling through due to injury issues found in his medical [talkSPORT].

Leeds United sign Josuha Guilavogui as midfield reinforcement

While Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell have hit the ground running for the Whites, there is no doubt that Farke needs midfield reinforcement at Elland Road.

With still 35 matches of the Championship campaign remaining, and Leeds aiming for promotion to the Premier League, the players will be pushed to their absolute maximum this season.

Despite playing well in the absence of Ampadu and Gruev so far, Rothwell and Tanaka cannot be expected to play every minute of the season like the former did last term.

Considering this, Guilavogui is an incredible addition to make to the squad outside of a transfer window, with experience across the top divisions in Germany and Spain as well as the France national team.

He is most well-known for his time at Wolfsburg, where he made over 200 appearances across eight years, being sent out on loan twice during that time, and will add some much-needed cover to the squad.

At 34 years of age, he is not the complete fix to Farke's current injury blows at Elland Road, but he will certainly alleviate some of the pressure on the players as games begin to come thick and fast.
