Leeds United transfers: Major James McAtee development emerges
Leeds United are last in the queue to sign Manchester City midfielder James McAtee who’s also wanted by Newcastle, according to the Daily Mail.
The news outlet reported on 6 January that there is a long queue to secure the January transfer of the 22-year-old midfielder.
Fichajes reported on 5 January that Fulham were even willing to offer £40million for the Salford-born City talent.
Leeds United need to move on from James McAtee
At £40million, Leeds’ chances of signing McAtee from City are virtually nonexistent, primarily due to financial constraints and the competitive nature of the transfer market.
Even if the price were lower, the Whites would still find it challenging to secure the 22-year-old’s signature.
Both Newcastle and Fulham offer the allure of Premier League football, which is a significant draw for any player, especially one like McAtee who is looking to establish himself in top-flight competition.
Leeds, currently in the Championship, cannot provide this platform and the best they can do is sell confidence over their promotion chances.
Clubs like Newcastle and Fulham have deeper pockets and can likely outbid Leeds in terms of salary and transfer fees, providing the City player with better financial incentives and career progression opportunities.

Moreover, McAtee’s development would benefit more from the high-level competition and coaching available at a Premier League club, making his choice to move to Elland Road, even at a reduced fee, highly improbable.
In other Leeds United news, Manchester United are now keen on securing the services of a Whites first-team regular in January.
