Leeds United are reportedly expressing a strong interest in signing Manchester City midfielder James McAtee this summer.

According to the Irish Daily Mail (July 27, page 49), fellow Premier League sides Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth are interested in the 19-year-old and so are La Liga side Villarreal.

It's understood that Manchester City only want to do a loan deal and will consider letting him leave if the interested clubs can guarantee that they will be playing him regularly.

Not really needed

Leeds needed midfielders at the start of the window and it made sense then to show an interest in McAtee.

However, they've signed an attacking midfielder in Brenden Aaronson and two deeper ones in Tyler Adams and Marc Roca since then.

Now, they're well stacked in the middle of the park and even if they sign the Manchester City youngster, they will not be able to guarantee him playing time.

They should rather focus their time and resources on a left-back and a striker as it seems like these two are positions of priority for the Whites.

As for McAtee, we're pretty confident that he will not be arriving at Elland Road before the window shuts.

The likes of Charles De Ketelaere and Arnaud Kalimuendo are the kinds of signings we expect and it remains to be seen if Victor Orta can get either of those two deals over the line.
