Leeds United transfer twist as Christantus Uche agents speaks out
Leeds United are keeping a keen eye on Getafe attacking midfielder Christantus Uche.
The Elland Road club have earmarked the final third for serious improvement as they strive for Premier League survival.
Leeds have already lost Manor Solomon, who returned to parent club Tottenham, while there are question marks over Joel Piroe.
However, there has been a significant update on the Whites’ pursuit of Uche, which alters the conversation on his future.

Agent of Uche addresses Leeds United transfer links
Previous reports from Spain suggested that Leeds were in pole position to sign Uche, alongside Premier League rivals Brentford.
The Nigerian was said to want to depart La Liga, with the Whites and the Bees bidding stronger than clubs in Italy and France.
It was also stated that Getafe were open to allowing Uche to leave for below his £21million asking price if an agreement could be reached.
Christantus Uche’s 2024/25 La Liga statistics | Total |
Appearances | 33 |
Goals | 4 |
Assists | 6 |
Expected assists (xA) | 3.11 |
Big chances created | 7 |
Accurate passes | 11.6 (67%) |
However, there have been contrasting reports from the 22-year-old’s agent, which suggest those reports were wide of the mark.
Uche’s agent has brandished talk of links with Leeds as false, stating that the attacking midfielder is happy at Getafe, as per All Nigeria Soccer (5 June).
He said: “We are calm. When the transfer window opens, you’ll hear a lot of news – some fiction, some gossip.
“It’s still too early to say what [the outcome] can be, even though it is a good thing for the lad. It shows he is doing something right.”

Leeds should prioritise attack and a goalkeeper
Although the Whites possess the Championship Golden Boot winner, they need an upgrade for the Premier League.
Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has been tipped for a move to Elland Road, but he has a poor injury record.
Elsewhere, if the Yorkshire club cannot bring Solomon back from Spurs, then another winger will be needed.
Given Illan Meslier’s calamitous season, the goalkeeping position must be at the top of the transfer agenda.
Indeed, links with England international Nick Pope are a promising sign for the Elland Road outfit.
So far, the transfer rumours have been encouraging, and if they come to fruition, then Leeds will have a shot at survival.
