Leeds United transfer priority shared on Sky Sports ahead of January
Leeds United are looking to sign a new number 10 in the January transfer window, Gary Weaver has said.
The Sky Sports commentator shared the update as the Whites cruised to a 2-0 win against Derby in the Championship at Elland Road on 7 December.
Daniel Farke has backed Brenden Aaronson since his return from Union Berlin on loan, but his deflected assist for Max Wober’s goal was as good as it got against the Rams for the American.
Speaking live on Sky Sports Football [7 December, 13:38], Weaver shared an update from Elland Road ahead of the window opening again.
“We mentioned Leeds looking for a number 10 in January,” he said.
Leeds United to sign a new number 10 in January?
Farke recently admitted that he could not rule out a marquee signing in the upcoming window, with opportunities potentially popping up.
The Whites have a more balanced squad this season compared to last, but the two areas of concern will be that playmaker role and cover in defence.
Wober scored against Derby in only his fourth appearance this season, but a move to RB Salzburg appears to be likely, with only final details to be sorted before January [Salzburger Nachrichten].

If nobody leaves in the window, only one new face may be needed.
Ethan Ampadu returned to the squad against Derby after his long-term injury, bringing more cover in defence and midfield for Farke and the Whites.
Constant talks between the German and the 49ers Enterprises will be likely ahead of the window, and that added playmaker in the squad could go very far.
This is certainly one to watch as we creep towards January.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign off on a high-profile exit for a player who’s been at Elland Road for a long time.
