Leeds United have sent scouts to watch Fluminense and Colombia midfielder Jhon Arias, according to TEAMtalk.

The publication reported on its website on Tuesday (31 October) that the player could be available in the January transfer window.

TEAMtalk added that six other clubs are interested in his signature; Rangers, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Wolves, Burnley and Leicester City.

“His fine form has not gone unnoticed in Britain,” according to TEAMtalk. “Indeed, TEAMtalk has learned seven different clubs have watched Arias for Colombia as well as Fluminense. Arias has 10 caps to his name for the Colombian national side since making his debut in 2022.

“We understand Crystal Palace, West Ham, Burnley, Wolves, Leicester, Leeds and Scottish giants Rangers have all checked on Arias. The midfielder is under contract with Fluminense until 2026, though could be available for transfer in January.”

New face incoming?

Leeds fans have only just recovered from a roller-coaster summer transfer window following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

A long, long list of senior players left Elland Road for pastures new upon that demotion, with several leaving temporarily and others exiting on a permanent basis.

The likes of Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca, Luis Sinisterra and Rasmus Kristensen among many others opted to leave on loan, with players such as Rodrigo and Tyler Adams exiting for good.

New manager Daniel Farke did, however, do a great job in replacing those players, with Elland Road arrivals including Ethan Ampadu, Jaidon Anthony and Joe Rodon.

And there could now be another new face making his way to West Yorkshire in the form of midfield man Arias. But persuading him to come to the Championship will prove to be a very difficult task given the reported vast interest in the 26-year-old from clubs above Leeds in the English football pyramid.
