Journalist shares ‘best week of his career’ verdict on ‘streaky’ Leeds United ace Crysencio Summerville

Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville just enjoyed arguably the “best week of his career,” according to Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross.

The attacker netted two goals as the Whites defeated Huddersfield Town 4-1 at Elland Road on Saturday (28 October).

That followed his double against Norwich City last Saturday (21 October), with a brief cameo against Stoke City in between.

“In his short time on Leeds United’s frontline, Crysencio Summerville has proven to be a streaky player,” Cross wrote for Leeds Live. “Last season, there were four goals in four consecutive games, that ultimately kept Jesse Marsch in a job, but barren deserts on either side of that run.

“Then today, the 21-year-old was applying the finishing touches to arguably the best week of his career and certainly his best one-off display in Leeds colours. It’s four goals in seven days and five in his last five games.”

Star man

Summerville, like many other Leeds players, really has come into his own under Daniel Farke this season. Perhaps it is the drop down in level that has aided his development, or perhaps it is indeed the manager and his style of play that have allowed Summerville to excel.

The winger now boasts six goals and four assists from his 12 matches in all competitions this season, and is undoubtedly one of the most in-form players in English football.

The player, Farke and indeed everyone associated with the West Yorkshire club will be desperate for the form to continue in the months to come, although all eyes are now on the immediate future given what is up next.

The Whites travel to runaway leaders Leicester City on Friday (3 November), with the Foxes winning 13 of their 14 matches so far.

They are well ahead at the top, but Leeds can close that gap with a huge three points under the lights at the King Power Stadium.

In other Leeds United news, an unusual clause not possible in one country has been used on one Whites loanee, with a permanent exit now on the cards.
