Leeds United transfer news as Marc Roca and Junior Firpo pick up injuries

Leeds United players Marc Roca and Junior Firpo are set to miss the club’s pre-season fixture against Manchester United after picking up new injuries, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Firpo and Roca are still likely to leave the club this summer as their injuries are not too serious, but the pair have both missed some of last week’s full training sessions under new manager Daniel Farke due to these knocks.

Leeds’ Spanish midfielder Roca, who signed from Bayern Munich just over 12 months ago, looks set to join Real Betis on an initial loan deal with a £10.2million option to buy [AS, 8 July], while the club have decided to listen to enquiries for Firpo [The Athletic, 6 July].

It was also reported that Luis Sinisterra, Tyler Adams, Rodrigo, and Rasmus Kristensen could also miss the friendly match, due to varying levels of fitness and periods of transfer talks.

The faster deals are completed, the better

In terms of how the Leeds United squad will look at the beginning of the Championship season, it will be a very different look from the current one, as the squad still retains a multitude of players who are expected to leave in the coming weeks.

The sooner Leeds can get the players who do not wish to remain at the club, out of the door, then they will get a better indicator of what the squad will look like, and what needs to be done in terms of recruitment.

Since Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League, a host of stars have been linked to moves away, with Brenden Aaronson and Robin Koch sealing loan moves to Germany, while Roca, Firpo, Willy Gnonto, Illan Meslier, Rodrigo and several other stars are expected to follow them away from Elland Road.

The friendly against Manchester United will be more of a look at the fitness of the current crop, as Daniel Farke looks to assert his playing style and ideas on the squad, rather than an indication of what the first Championship fixture may look like.

In other Leeds United news, the club should go all-out to pursue star Championship midfielder.
