Leeds United transfer news as Ilia Gruev asking price emerges amid Borussia Dortmund interest
Leeds United would look for a fee of around £15million to sell Ilia Gruev during the summer transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.
The outlet reported on its website on Friday (7 June) that the Bulgarian international is ready to leave Elland Road this summer having missed out on promotion to the Premier League under Daniel Farke.
Borussia Dortmund and several clubs from Italy are keen on securing the midfielder’s signature this summer, but the Whites will hold out for around £15million having only paid around £5million to sign him from Werder Breman last year.
Will Leeds United sell Ilia Gruev during the summer transfer window at Elland Road?
After an incredibly slow start under Farke, Gruev has quickly become one of the more important players in the Leeds United changing room as he has consistently impressed in the heart of midfield alongside Glen Kamara and Ethan Ampadu.
In an ideal world, the Whites would be doing all that they could to keep the Bulgarian international at Elland Road this summer, but having missed out on promotion this season, their hands could well be tied if a big offer arrives.
Ultimately, it would represent excellent business if they could sell a player for £15million only 12 months after they bought him for £5million, even if a portion of that profit will likely make its way straight to Werder Bremen.

That money could be reinvested back into the side this summer to help Leeds push for promotion again next season. It would also likely increase the chances of someone like Archie Gray being kept for at least another season.
Hopefully, the Whites will pocket a pretty penny if Gruev does leave this summer. Whether or not Dortmund will be willing to match that steep valuation remains to be seen.
