Leeds United transfer news as Brenden Aaronson eyed at Newcastle
Newcastle are eyeing up Leeds United attacker Brenden Aaronson as a potential signing this summer, according to 90min.
Aaronson, 22, joined the Whites from Red Bull Salzburg last summer in a deal worth around £25million, and made 36 appearances from 38 Premier League games as the club were relegated to the Championship.
Eddie Howe’s side are now ready to raid the three relegated Premier League club’s for additions this summer, with the Leeds attacker admired by the Champions League club.
Fabrizio Romano reported on 30 May that the American international is set to “explore his options soon”, with a relegation clause of £25million also being placed in his contract at Elland Road. [90min]
Take any offers
Aaronson was a major disappointment for Leeds in his first season as a Premier League footballer, and any offers that come the club’s way should be happily accepted.

Although he showed glimpses of class, with smart footwork, the occasional mazy dribble and a relentless desire in the press, he was physically bullied all season long by countless Premier League defenders.
If the American struggled with the physical nature of the top-flight, he’s got something coming for him if he remains at Elland Road to play in the Championship next season.
The interest from Newcastle is a little surprising given the 22-year-old’s struggles last season, but if Leeds can get a transfer fee anywhere near what they paid for him 12 months ago it should be seen as a major success.
A major squad overhaul is imminent at Elland Road, and Aaronson looks like he could be one of the first packing up his locker and heading out the exit gates.
In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
