Leeds United transfer: Daniel Farke makes disturbing squad admission
Daniel Farke believes signing players in January could negatively affect Leeds United.
The German manager feels that doing too much business in the winter window could hamper the spirits of the Whites’ squad.
After the 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers on New Year’s Day, the Peacocks are top of the league table, and the 48-year-old head coach seems satisfied with his squad.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference [BBC Sport West Yorkshire, 2 January] ahead of taking on Hull City, Farke said: “Once you head into January, sitting on top of the table, there can’t be too much wrong within the group.
“And sometimes, when you do too much business, it can also disturb the spirit and the vibe in and around the group.”
Daniel Farke should demand January transfer at Leeds United
The Whites are sitting comfortably in the Championship as things stand, but injury issues could derail their season once again.
In the initial weeks of the 2024/25 campaign, the German manager lost some key players like Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev to injuries.
The West Yorkshire club have only recently got to the top of the table and should sign reinforcements in January to boost their prospects.
Leeds United are expected to attain automatic promotion to the Premier League for next season, but the uncertainty with injuries is worrying.

While Ampadu’s return is a welcome sign for the engine room, the Whites evidently need more depth at centre-back.
Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk have been heavily relied upon by Farke, and their potential absence could be a big blow in the promotion race.
Max Wober is the only other experienced central defender at the 48-year-old head coach’s disposal.
James Debayo has also made the squad several times this term, but the youngster can’t be expected to provide adequate cover if needed.
The Peacocks scrambled to sign Josuha Guilavogui as a free agent after the summer window and won’t want to be in a similar position in the coming months.
