Leeds United table new bid to seal Milot Rashica transfer, Besiktas respond

Leeds United made an official offer for Besiktas winger Milot Rashica in the winter transfer window, according to Takvim.

The Turkish website reported [18 February] that the Whites offered £5.9million for the former Norwich City forward, with the aim of adding another experienced head to the squad.

It is understood, however, that Rashica is happy in Turkey, having made 14 league starts so far, and manager Fernando Santos has no intentions of letting him leave.

Leeds United plan for Premier League promotion

The links to Rashica make plenty of sense for Leeds, with Daniel Farke having prior experiences with the 27-year-old in the top tier of English football.

He made 40 appearances for the Canaries, having arrived from Werder Bremen after a century of matches in the Bundesliga.

After their exile from the league last season, Leeds will be excited about potentially being promoted but also worried about the idea of a poor finish and a quick drop back down to the Championship.

Farke certainly has the ability to capture promotion to the Premier League this season, having done so with Norwich on two occasions.

And considering his last spell in the last competition, breaking a top-flight record with 15 consecutive losses during the 2021/22 season before being sacked, the German will be eager to avoid further disappointment.

Of course, there is still plenty of the campaign left to play, and with Southampton hot on Leeds’ heels, the automatic promotion spot could go down to the wire.

If the Whites can manage to capture their success this season, the experience and wisdom of Rashica could prove an important asset in the squad.

And for just £5.9million, it is a deal that would be tough to turn away from if Besiktas gave the green light.
