Fabrizio Romano: Leeds United actively working on Noa Lang deal

Leeds United are still working on a deal to sign Dutch winger Noa Lang from Club Brugge, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The renowned transfer guru delivered an update on the Premier League side’s pursuit of the 22-year-old on his Twitch account on Friday night [09/07/21].

He said: “They told me yesterday that Leeds United are still working for Noa Lang from Club Brugge, so they want Noa Lang as a winger and they are working on it. There is still no official bid but Leeds are interested in Noa Lang.”

Waiting in the wings

It looks like Lang is a player that Leeds are seriously keen on adding to their ranks this summer, despite securing the permanent signing of Jack Harrison from Manchester City last week.

After a three-season long loan spell at Elland Road, the English winger was finally bought outright from the Premier League champions.

The 24-year-old was a permanent fixture in the starting XI last season, even though he was overshadowed by the feats of his teammate on the other wing, Raphinha.

It’s an area that is already strong for the Whites, but there is a huge difference in ability between the pair and the likes of Helder Costa and Ian Poveda.

As such, it’s no surprise to hear a winger is still being pursued, especially after Lang’s performances for Club Brugge last season.

He scored 17 goals and registered 11 assists in 37 appearances for the Belgian league winners, impressing in the Champions League along the way.

As a former Ajax academy graduate, he’s certainly someone who possesses the technical attributes, but would he be up to the task of breaking into a Marcelo Bielsa side that is underpinned by sheer work rate and a commitment to the overall cause?

With El Loco at the helm, we don’t see why not.

In other Leeds United news, this first-team star is training alone under strict orders from Marcelo Bielsa.
