Leeds United stance shared amid Ilia Gruev transfer latest

Leeds United currently have no plans to find a replacement for Ilia Gruev amid questions over the midfielder’s future, according to Graham Smyth.

Writing for the Yorkshire Evening Post’s online edition on Friday (June 28), the journalist reported that despite interest from Borussia Dortmund, the Whites view Gruev’s situation similarly to Ethan Ampadu’s, preferring to keep both players as they look for stability in their midfield.

Manager Daniel Farke also values the versatility both players bring, hinting at the need to maintain squad cohesion rather than make significant changes this summer.

On top of that, Dortmund’s interest might be waning, with the German press reporting that they are now considering making a move for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Pascal Gross, who could be available for a cut-price fee this summer and represent better value than Gruev [BILD].

Leeds United show a thoughtful approach to transfer window

Leeds United’s decision to keep Gruev despite interest from Borussia Dortmund shows they’re focusing on stability this transfer window.

It seems they’re sticking with what works instead of making big changes, which makes sense after last summer’s major shake-up.

Keeping Gruev and thinking about Ampadu’s future suggests they want to maintain team chemistry under Farke.

And as they prepare for pre-season, the Whites seem to be carefully reinforcing key positions while handling potential player exits, showing a thoughtful approach to squad management that could pay off next season.

Keeping Gruev at the club, regardless of how much Dortmund are willing to pay should they indeed be interested, is key to next season’s automatic promotion push.
