Leeds United stance on last-minute Max Aarons transfer shared amid Bournemouth exit update
Leeds United are considering a last-minute move for Bournemouth defender Max Aarons, according to Graham Smyth.
The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported on Monday (26 August) that the right-back is one of the options being considered at Elland Road ahead of the 30 August transfer deadline.
Aarons had appeared set to join the Whites last summer having undergone a medical with Daniel Farke’s side before snubbing the switch and making a late U-turn to join Andoni Iraola’s Cherries in the Premier League instead.
The 24-year-old, who worked with Farke during his time at Norwich City, was left out of Bournemouth’s squad for their clash with Newcastle United but Iraloa confirmed after the game he is fit and available for selection.
Will Max Aarons exit Bournemouth amid Leeds United transfer rumours?
Jayden Bogle has already arrived at Elland Road this summer as Farke looks to bolster his options at fullback, but behind the former Sheffield United man, there is still an obvious lack of depth in Leeds’s ranks.
Sam Byram is an able deputy, but his injury and fitness record are concerning. There is next to no guarantee that the former Norwich man will be able to slot into the back four if Bogle is to pick up a knock.
The Whites got through last season primarily because they were able to call upon both Archie Gray and Jamie Shackleton to play out of position. With both academy graduates now playing elsewhere, Farke’s options are incredibly limited.

Aarons, on the face of it, would solve that problem. Not only is he an excellent right back at Championship level, but he also knows how Farke operates and has had success under his management in the past.
Whether or not Bournemouth would be willing to sanction his departure before the window slams shut remains unclear, but if there is a deal to be struck it would seem like a sensible piece of business.
