Chris Sutton has been left baffled by "odd" Leeds United developments ahead of the transfer deadline at Elland Road.

The Whites have undergone a massive rebuild having missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season, with the likes of Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray all exiting.

Although Daniel Farke's side are closing in on the loan signing of Manor Solomon as they look to strengthen their ranks [Fabrizio Romano, 24 August], Sutton admits the activity around Elland Road has been demoralising.

Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live (24 August, 41:40) he said: "It's so odd isn't it for a massive club, you had a playoff final last season and lost to Southampton.

"At the start of this season, if I'm a Leeds fan I'm pretty demoralised by the players that you're selling and not really replacing. For Daniel Farke, it's a difficult situation for him isn't it?"

Are Leeds United close to any new signings in the summer transfer window?

This window certainly has been incredibly difficult for Leeds United supporters as they have had to watch the best players in their side be picked off one by one by clubs in the Premier League.

Although the wheels finally appear to be in motion to secure some replacements before the end of August, there is a feeling that there is still a lot of work to be done in the final days of the transfer window.

Luckily, Farke managed to pick up a first win of the season against Sheffield Wednesday last time out to ease some pressure on both him and the board. But those three points will only go so far when it comes to convincing the fans.

Hopefully, the next few days will be the busiest of the summer at Elland Road.

There are very few players left for Premier League sides to poach before the 30 August and there should be plenty of money to invest into new signings.
