Adam Pope has admitted he had heard that Crysencio Summerville had an "attitude issue" prior to his Leeds United exit in the transfer window.

The 22-year-old has departed Elland Road to join Premier League side West Ham United in a deal reportedly worth somewhere in the region of £20million and £25million [Florian Plettenberg, 3 August].

Summerville won the Championship Player of the Season award under Daniel Farke last season, but BBC journalist Pope isn't disappointed by his exit, despite believing Leeds should have held out for more.

Speaking on The Don't Go To Bed Just Yet podcast (6 August) he said: "It's the one that at the beginning of the summer, which player is going to be leaving Leeds United?

"Archie Gray you thought there good chance if the money came in, but Summerville was definitely either first or second on your list. It's happened, did I think it would be West Ham? No. Did I think it would be £25million? He's worth more.

"He's definitely worth more than that, but there will be add-ons and what have you so it's happened, it's gone.

"Am I unhappy? No, because I think there was an attitude issue. But I think there's a lot of goals to replace."

How much did Leeds United earn for Crysencio Summerville?

Suggestions that Summerville had a bit of an attitude problem aren't anything new at Elland Road, with former boss Jesse Marsch even going as far as to accuse the 22-year-old of being a poor trainer in the past [Leeds United News, 21 February].

But since Farke arrived at Elland Road last summer, there has been very little to suggest that the Dutchman has ever stepped out of line either off or on the field of play.

When so many players were handing in transfer requests last summer to try and force an exit following relegation, he remained and proved his worth in the Championship, ultimately firing the Whites within touching distance of the Premier League.

Unless something has happened behind the scenes that supporters have not been privy to, it is hard to see what issues the winger actually has, or whether this is just some speculation on behalf of Pope.

Either way, the deal has been completed now and it is time for the Whites to crack on and find an adequate replacement for the 22-year-old.
