Leeds United source shares what he heard about Farke stance on Meslier sale

Leeds United had planned to keep Illan Meslier as their number one this season but his recent blunders have caused the club to explore the market, according to TEAMtalk.

The online outlet reported via their website (7 January) that Daniel Farke wasn’t planning on making any “firm” moves to sign a replacement for the Frenchman this term.

However, that looks set to change after he cost the West Yorkshire outfit two crucial points in their 3-3 draw against Hull City on 4 January.

Illan Meslier cannot be the first-choice Leeds United goalkeeper in the Premier League

Although the talent within the Frenchman is evident and there can be times when he’s one of the best ‘keepers in the second-tier, it’s felt like he’s cost the West Yorkshire outfit one too many points already this season.

His campaign last term was fairly impressive as he ended up near the top end of the table for clean sheets.

However, this season, it feels like he’s taken a step back and while he’s still likely a better option than Karl Darlow, it feels like more should be coming from the former Lorient man.

Premier League sides such as Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with a move for the goalkeeper in January but at the moment, it’s hard to see why either club would want to invest anything into him [TEAMtalk, 27 December].

Only time will tell what the future holds for the 24-year-old but at the moment, it feels like it’s away from Elland Road.

In other Leeds news, Farke could be set to sanction an exit for another Leeds star in January.
