Leeds United show interest in Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson
Leeds United are in the hunt to sign Nottingham Forest and Wales forward Brennan Johnson, according to The Athletic.
The news outlet claims Barnsley, Brentford and Leicester are also interested in the 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Lincoln City in League One.
While on loan at Sincil Bank last season, Johnson scored 13 goals and supplied 14 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions as the Imps reached the League One play-off final.
One for the future?
Johnson lit up League One with his performances on loan at Lincoln City last season.
He played so well that he was called up to the Wales squad in November and was handed his debut cap in a friendly against the USA, before playing another friendly this year versus Mexico.
Johnson can play in a number of different roles in the attack, featuring on both wings at Lincoln last season while also playing as a centre-forward and a central midfielder [transfermarkt].
Lincoln manager Michael Appleton has already tipped Johnson to “comfortably play in the Championship” next season [FirstTimeFinish] but if he was to join Leeds, you would imagine that he would be in the club’s Under-23s squad and not Marcelo Bielsa’s first team.
However, that is unless the Whites can find a loan move for Johnson and after the season he had at Lincoln, you would imagine there would be plenty of takers.
If we do try to sign him, it would be interesting to see if the club tries to sign him from Nottingham Forest but allow him to spend the season on loan at the City Ground.
He seems more than good enough to play for the East Midlands club in the Championship and that extra year of development could really help Leeds out.
In other Leeds United news, this player wants to join the Whites this summer as the club lines up a £30million-plus move.
