Nahitan Nandez agent confirms interest in Leeds United transfer

Nahitan Nandez’s agent has confirmed the Cagliari midfielder is interested in a move to Leeds United.

La Nuova Sardegna has recently reported that Leeds are prepared to trigger the 25-year-old’s £30.9million release clause in order to lure him to Elland Road this summer.

Now, Nandez’s agent Pablo Bentancur has revealed that his client does want to move to the Premier League and if Leeds come calling, that would be an ideal destination.

“Our wish is to play in England; if it is with Leeds United that would be much better,” said Bentancur to LUFCFanzone, a well-established Instagram account that is followed by a number of Leeds players and has over 55,000 followers.

“Cagliari President Giulili and [Andrea] Radrizzani are very close friends and have already spoken. It is in the goodwill of these two presidents to close the operation.

“The president of Cagliari promised Nahitan that if he helped save the club from relegation, he would help with a move to a bigger club. There are two big clubs in Italy negotiating, but we believe England is our first option.

“Nahitan already wanted to sign with Leeds and [Marelo] Bielsa when he was at Boca. England is more his type of football and Leeds would be ideal because of the style of play and because the player grows and becomes important under pressure.”

The truth? Or agent tactics?

It remains to be seen whether or not Nandez’s agent is trying to drum up interest in the Uruguay international or whether there’s any actual truth behind this.

We feel as though if Nandez was a concrete target who Leeds are trying to sign then Bentancur would be trying to keep things under wraps, unless a stumbling block has been reached in negotiations.

At this stage, it seems as though the agent is touting his player around, knowing that a move to England – and especially to Leeds – would be considerable for Nandez, who’s doing well at Cagliari.

With respect to the Serie A club, they’re not one of most well known or richest clubs in Italy so a move to Leeds would be huge for Nandez for a number of reasons.

We’ll have to see what happens here but there’s no doubt that Radrizzani’s connections to the Sardinian could also smooth any talks for a deal.

In other Leeds United news, this “magic” midfielder could be a masterstroke of a signing as he’s tipped to be the next big thing.
