Leeds United set 'prohibitive' Raphinha valuation as they eye Adama Traore replacement

Leeds United are eyeing up replacements for Raphinha and Wolves’ Adama Traore and PSV’s Cody Gakpo are “among their targets”, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on Thursday (23 June, page 72) that Leeds want £65million for 25-year-old Raphinha, a valuation which is “prohibitive for all bidders”.

It is understood that Arsenal are readying a second bid for the Brazil international after their opening offer was rejected while Chelsea and Tottenham are also “expected to bid this week”.

Traore? Get out

If Leeds really think they can replace Raphinha with Traore, then we’ve lost all faith in Victor Orta.

Traore is a one-trick pony who can get past defenders with his pace and his strength.

When it comes to his end-product, Tyler Roberts is better.

In 160 Premier League appearances in his career, Traore has scored a grand total of eight goals.

It’s embarrassing that he’s being linked because that is a truly atrocious record for a player who managed to convince Barcelona to sign him in January.

Traore’s pace and power, which makes him perfect for your FIFA Ultimate Team, has led to him being widely known among fanbases across Europe.

But that doesn’t make him good in real life at all.

He started just four times for Barca in La Liga and only 10 times for Wolves in the Premier League in 20212/22.

The eight-times Spain international is nothing like Raphinha whereas 23-year-old Gakpo is a lot similar expect he’s a left-sided winger.

We’d much rather have him still because he can play on the right, has proven he’s able to get on the scoresheet and he’s bound to have plenty of resale value.

In other Leeds United news, a super-agent says he’s heard that this Elland Road star is on the verge of leaving the club for a Premier League rival.
