Leeds United reject new Arsenal bid for Raphinha after meeting, Chelsea in talks for personal terms

Leeds United rejected a “verbal bid” from Arsenal for Raphinha on Tuesday, according to Fabrizio Romano.

On 28 June, the Guardian journalist reported via his personal Twitter account that Arsenal and Leeds held a meeting about 25-year-old Raphinha and “in the last hours”, a bid was turned down by the Whites.

It is understood that Barcelona have also been in contact again but they have no chance when it comes to matching what Chelsea have offered for the Brazil international.

Romano adds that Chelsea, who had an offer accepted worth up to £65million, are set to open talks with Raphinha and his agent Deco.

Leeds and Chelsea have “fully agreed” a deal between themselves and it seems that all that’s left is for an agreement on personal terms before the final details are sorted.

Over to Chelsea

We don’t want to see Raphinha leave Leeds but if we had to pick a club we’d rather he joined, it would be Chelsea.

Of course, a move to Barcelona would be better as we wouldn’t have to see him tearing up the Premier League and, obviously, scoring at Elland Road against Leeds.

However, Barca were never really in the running due to their financial issues so between Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, a move to Stamford Bridge is best.

At Arsenal, he would be a regular starter but wouldn’t be playing in the Champions League

If he joined Spurs, he would get Champions League football but he would also be a squad player.

Leeds United

However, at Chelsea, he’d get the best of both worlds as you’d assume that he’d walk into Thomas Tuchel’s starting line-up and also get to play in Europe’s top club competition.

Raphinha is good enough for most teams in the Premier League and he’s certainly good enough for a Chelsea side that lacked oompf in their attack last season.

If he’s surrounded by better players, has fewer defensive duties and has a top manager coaching him, we’re sure that Raphinha will not only be one of the stars of the Premier League in the upcoming season but also one of the stars at the World Cup with Brazil,

In other Leeds United news, a Leeds player has been spotted undergoing a medical ahead of leaving Elland Road on a permanent deal.
