Leeds United ready Lukas Ullrich transfer as extreme pressure emerges in Germany
Leeds United have emerged as a potential candidate to complete the signing of Lukas Ullrich this summer.
The Borussia Mönchengladbach defender enjoyed a breakthrough season last time out, as he featured in 26 of his side’s 34 Bundesliga outings.
He is currently away with Germany at the U21 Euros, where he caught the eye with an assist in their group stage victory over Lee Carsley’s England side.
Ullrich’s international exploits have prompted Daniel Farke to take an interest in the young left-back, who could line up against England once again in their final on Saturday (28 June).

Leeds join Tottenham and Brighton in Ullrich chase
Leeds look set to face competition as they prepare a deal to try and bring Ullrich to Elland Road.
Tottenham and Brighton are also understood to be keen admirers of the youngster, but neither are thought to be close to reaching a deal at present.
Leeds’ interest is thought to have placed Monchengladbach chief Roland Virkus under “extreme pressure,” according to the print edition of Bild (28 June, pg 12).
He desperately wants to keep Ullrich because he plans for him to compete with Lucas Netz for the left-back spot for several years, but he currently lacks the financial capability to tie him down.
The Bundesliga giants are said to have offered the 21-year-old a new contract until 2029, but have not offered a wage that catches Ullrich’s eye.
Ullrich isn’t what Leeds need right now
Junior Firpo’s imminent departure has made left-backs a healthy topic of discussion in West Yorkshire this summer, and it now seems that the Whites may have identified the potential long-term successor for their outgoing star.

Ullrich’s international exploits have outlined the immense amount of potential that he possesses; however, Farke shouldn’t be relying on him alone to step into Firpo’s shoes straight away.
Premier League experience is something that is lacking within the Germans’ ranks, and although Ullrich is a hugely talented young prospect, Leeds would be better served opting for a more seasoned alternative at this moment in time.
If they are adamant that they want to sign the young star, they should ensure they seek out another option as well, so they can avoid throwing Ullrich straight in at the deep end by immediately asking him to start the majority of Premier League games.
