Leeds United pay £2m plus add-ons to sign Kristoffer Klaesson
Valerenga goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson is heading to England today to finalise a move to Leeds United, according to Norwegian journalist Wegard Bakkehaug.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Saturday, the VG journalist reported that Leeds have agreed to pay £2million plus added bonuses to sign the 20-year-old.
It is understood that Klaesson will also be “travelling” to Leeds today (Sunday).

Bakkehaug’s tweet reads: “Kristoffer Klaesson to @LUFC is in order!
“About 25million [Norwegian Krone] plus various bonuses.
“Travelling across tomorrow (Sunday). Valerenga cash in 50 million [Norwegian Krone] on player sales this summer.”
Onto other priorities
It sure seems as though a deal for Klaesson is all but done.
While we will have to wait for a work permit to be acquired, we doubt that Leeds would get to such an advanced stage in this deal without knowing that it’s doable.
Klaesson is a good young goalkeeper who has been in the Norway national first and played over 50 times for Valerenga in the Norwegian top-flight.
He’s also played in Europe so despite being a young goalkeeper at the age of 20, he’s still someone who can be a good number two behind Illan Meslier.
With the goalkeeper situation all but sorted, it will be good to see Leeds go after strengthening other areas of their squad.
For most of the summer, we’ve seen reports that Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta want to add to the central midfield options at Elland Road while a new winger could also be added.
It would be good to see either two midfielders or one midfielder and a left-back so that Stuart Dallas can remain in the midfield if Junior Firpo gets injured or suspended.
And another winger would be nice too due to Helder Costa’s poor form last season.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has named the previously unnamed player Victor Orta is in talks with.
