Leeds United now in talks to sign defender loved by Frank Lampard
Daniel Farke is hoping to make one or two more signings for Leeds this winter.
The focus right now at Elland Road will be very much centred around Leeds’ trip to Everton on Monday night, in what is a big game in the Premier League.
Indeed, that doesn’t appear to be on the only battle those two clubs are involved in at the moment, as Leeds and Everton are reportedly competing to sign Kalvin Phillips from Man City
As it stands, Facundo Buonanotte is Leeds’ only senior signing of the winter window, with Leonard Ngenge joining from Remo Stars but heading straight into the academy side.
But Farke, if he gets his own way, won’t have it staying like that when the 2 February deadline passes.

Leeds in talks to sign experienced defender Ben Chilwell
Most of the transfer talk around Leeds at present is at the top of the pitch, with Farke understood to be keen on bolstering his attacking options further.
Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen appears to be the Whites’ key transfer target, with Wanderers rejecting their first approach for the striker.
However, confidence does seem to be growing in West Yorkshire that the Norwegian international will make the move to Elland Road, in what would be a huge addition to Farke’s side.
But, Farke also seems to be eyeing up a defensive addition too, as he looks to ensure his team has enough quality at both ends of the pitch to make sure of Premier League survival.
Leeds were linked with signing Ben Chilwell in this season’s summer window, and it appears interest has been reignited this winter.

As per a report from the print edition of the Daily Mail on Saturday, Leeds are stated as looking to sign a left wing-back before the deadline, and have now enquired about Chilwell.
The 29-year-old is currently playing for Strasbourg in Ligue 1, having left Chelsea on a permanent deal last summer.
Frank Lampard loves Ben Chilwell
Capped 21 times for England, Chilwell is a well known and established defender in English football.
Having made over 100 appearances for Chelsea, and with a Champions League and FA Cup winners’ medal on his CV, he would certainly bring some serious pedigree to Elland Road.
Gabriel Gudmundsson is operating as the left wing-back, but with the Swede now injured, there’s a clear hole that needs filling.
Chilwell, at this stage of the season and the window, could be a very smart capture to come in and fill that role, even if it’s only until the end of the campaign.
He’s also a player that his former manager, Frank Lampard, thinks very highly of.
“With Ben Chilwell, he is a player I know very well, he has been pretty much England’s first-choice left-back now in recent times,” Lampard said in May 2020.
“Great qualities in terms of how he can join in, he is athletic, his physicality, the way he plays and the quality of his left foot.”
“So for us, in terms of how he can help out on the left side, attack-wise and defensively, which of course is always first and foremost, I am excited to work with him so I think he is a great addition.”
