Leeds United must wave goodbye to Robin Koch after comments he made away from Elland Road
Leeds United have a long list of players currently out on loan, with that list perhaps able to be divided into two categories.
One group involves youngsters plying their trade away from Elland Road in order to gain regular minutes and develop their skills.
And the other involves more senior players who made a quick exit following the club’s relegation from the Premier League in a desperate bid to avoid playing in the Championship.
Among the latter are the likes of Marc Roca, Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and centre-back Robin Koch, who has now opened up on a potential lengthy stay at temporary club Eintracht Frankfurt.
“I feel very comfortable here and have thought about the decision very carefully,” Koch told Kicker (22 October). “Before the move, I also asked a few players what it was like here. So far, expectations have even been exceeded. After the year you will see how it goes on.”
The publication added: “When asked, he explained that he could ‘very well imagine’ a longer-term future on the Main,” with Koch explaining: “I feel like I’m in perfect hands at Eintracht at the moment and I want to achieve a lot here.”
Such comments will not be welcomed by Whites supporters or indeed manager Daniel Farke, with the boss not needing such distractions at this moment in time.
He should definitely wave goodbye to the central defender, with the player’s Leeds contract expiring next summer anyway.
The 27-year-old has admittedly impressed in the Bundesliga this season, even recently captaining his loan club, but it remains highly unlikely that he will want to swap German top-flight action for the Championship anytime soon.
That could, of course, all change if Farke manages to promote the Whites back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, but would fans welcome back a player who in that case would clearly only be chasing top flight stardom, having not been involved in the second tier battle.
