Leeds United ace Liam Cooper sends six-word message to Andy Robertson as injury news emerges
Leeds United defender Liam Cooper has sent a six-word message to Liverpool defender Andy Robertson following his shoulder injury.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the left-back is set to undergo surgery on the issue that he sustained on international duty, as per the official Liverpool website.
Robertson suffered the problem during Scotland’s match against Spain last Thursday (20 October), with Cooper watching on from the bench.
“Obviously not the news I was hoping for but my focus is now on a full and speedy recovery!” Robertson wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for all the messages. All the best to the boys for tomorrow.”
Among those commenting on the post was Robertson’s Scotland teammate Cooper, who wrote: “Back before you know it brother.”
Liverpool have suffered a massive blow with the latest Robertson news, with the defender having been certain to play a key role for the rest of the season, beginning with their Merseyside Derby clash with Everton on Saturday (21 October).
But the full-back will now be sidelined for quite some time, much to the frustration of both Liverpool and Scotland supporters.
The issue could, incidentally, be a boost for Whites defender Cooper, who may just take Robertson’s place in the Scotland squad in the next international break.
Manager Steve Clarke could potentially call the Leeds man into his starting XI, with Scotland next in action in November with Euro 2024 qualifiers against Georgia and Norway.
With the nation having already qualified for the tournament finals, those two matches won’t mean a whole lot to the fans, but they could represent key opportunities for Cooper to impress his manager and land a spot in the final squad for next summer.
In other Leeds United news, one former Championship player is “very happy” with Daniel Farke being in the dugout at Elland Road.
