Leeds United medical on Thursday afternoon as private jet takes off

Ao Tanaka will undergo his medical with Leeds United on Thursday afternoon (29 August), according to Rheinische Post.

The German news outlet reported online (29 August) that the Japan international set off for Leeds on a private jet shortly after 10 am on Thursday morning.

Despite his medical being booked in at Elland Road, a deal for Tanaka is not yet finalised.

Various aspects, including financial details, are still being worked on behind the scenes.

Leeds United to sign Ao Tanaka from Fortuna Düsseldorf?

This update will cause both excitement and some pessimism among supporters at Elland Road.

On the one hand, it is huge to discover that Tanaka is already en route to West Yorkshire and scheduled to have his medical with the Whites.

That indicates that a transfer is all but complete, as Fortuna Düsseldorf are unlikely to have allowed Tanaka to travel for his medical if there wasn’t optimism that a deal will likely be agreed.

However, on the other hand, some supporters might feel slightly concerned that there are suggestions a deal hasn’t yet been fully finalised.

With such little time remaining in the transfer window, supporters will be nervous about a breakdown in talks, even if that does seem unlikely at this stage.

If anything were to go wrong, it would leave the Whites with very little time to find a replacement for Tanaka. That would be a big blow for Farke as a brand-new midfielder is needed at the club.

In other Leeds United news, the club are ready to pay a multi-million fee to sign a defender who is high on their shopping list.
