Leeds United could regret not signing Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe on transfer deadline day after being reportedly given the chance.

According to the Athletic's Phil Hay [1 February], the Whites were looking at the 25-year-old and were even offered the chance to sign him.

However, they decided against it and he ended up dropping a division into the EFL Championship to join Stoke City on loan.

Leeds defender Diego Llorente completed his move to Roma on deadline day and while it's only a loan move, there is a feeling that he's played his last game for the club.

Even Charlie Cresswell wasn't recalled from his loan spell at Millwall, leaving the Whites slightly weak in their centre-backs department.

It may be argued that Max Wober's arrival means that Pascal Struijk can revert to his customary role, but having the extra depth wouldn't hurt.

Tuanzebe may not be a name that excites the fanbase, but he's a utility player capable of playing in a number of positions on the pitch.

He can fill in at right-back in case of a defensive crisis and can also offer depth in defensive midfield.

In both positions, Leeds may require bodies as Cody Drameh leaving on loan means that Luke Ayling and Rasmus Kristensen are the only senior right-backs.

An injury to one means that they're thin in that area and don't even have the option of bringing him off in second halfs of games.

Signing Tuanzebe on loan would not have hurt Leeds in the slightest and the decision to not sign the defender who has been labelled "Unbelievable" by Harry Maguire could be a regret a few weeks down the line.
