Leeds United want to sign former FC Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo
Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing former FC Barcelona and current Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
According to LeedsAllOver [1 January], the Whites have made initial approaches for the 23-year-old but a deal is “more likely” to happen in the summer.
Leeds are understood to be eyeing defensive reinforcements after loaning out Diego Llorente to Roma who have the option to buy.
Worth exploring
While Todibo’s move to Barcelona did not work out as planned, he still did win the La Liga title with them in 2018/19.
They thought he was good enough to merit a move there but a competition for places in a squad filled with talented defenders meant he found game time hard to come by.

He did well at Toulouse before his move to Camp Nou and is one of the best players for Nice where he’s really proving himself.
Many had written him off after his failed stint at Barcelona, but he’s now silencing his critics and the perfect way to do that could be in the Premier League.
Leeds now have the next few months to scout him thoroughly and then make a decision as to whether or not they want to sign him in the summer.
Roma are likely to sign Llorente and even if not, we do not see a future for him at the club, so it makes sense to sign someone young who will be there at Elland Road for the foreseeable future.
In other Leeds United news, a manager has expressed disappointment at the failure to sign a first-team Leeds player in January.
