Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers speaks out amid transfer links to Leeds United attacker Jack Harrison

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his surprise at the availability of Leeds United attacker Jack Harrison in January.

According to the Athletic [2 February], the Englishman had a medical at the King Power Stadium, only for Leeds to pull the plug on deadline day.

Rodgers said that he was disappointed not to get him over the line, but was happy with the players that he ended up signing.

Via the BBC, he said, “It was surprising he was available in the first place. So when the deal gets to where it did, of course it’s [disappointing]. But we’re really happy with the players we did bring in.”

Right call

Leeds made the right decision to pull the plug on the transfer and he will be an important option for them for the rest of the season.

This campaign hasn’t transpired too well for the Whites attacker but he’s shown in the past just how good he can be if he hits some sort of form.

Harrison isn’t the player who’ll deliver 7/10s in every game, unfortunately, but he can go on spells where he’s the best player in the side and is absolutely unplayable at times.

Hopefully, after he signs a new deal, he gets some more confidence and also sees that Jesse Marsch and the hierarchy are backing him completely.

Like every player, he will have to fight for his place in the eleven but he knows that good performances are going to merit regular starts.

His versatility is important and we’re sure Marsch appreciates having a player like him who can play in multiple attacking positions.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites appear to be on the cusp of another January signing as a player’s agent jets into the United Kingdom to conduct final transfer talks.
