Leeds United may now consider Lucas Perri untouchable - This is why he can't be sold
Lucas Perri suffered every single emotion during his first year as a Leeds United player.
Celebrating a move to the Premier League, Perri instantly became Daniel Farke's new number one at Elland Road.
That didn't last long, though.
After several mistakes, Perri was dropped for Karl Darlow and instantly became the cup goalkeeper.
That did lead to success, though, with Leeds reaching the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley last season.
And despite many expecting him to be sold after just one year, that may now be an impossible situation for the 49ers.
Lucas Perri interest grows as Leeds trouble continues
Perri appeared to be on the chopping block as the Whites targeted another new goalkeeper.
Leeds were said to be leading the race for Parma and Japan star, Zion Suzuki.
But, Tuttosport reported on Monday that the World Cup star had actually rejected a move to Elland Road.
With no other credible links to goalkeepers, that gives Perri a lifeline.
While all of that drama was unfolding, Gianluca Di Marzio has now reported that Perri is on the list of Torino, alongside Aaron Ramsdale.
Why can't Leeds sell Lucas Perri?
Right now, simply put, the Brazilian is all they have.
Darlow is yet to sign a new contract and entered July as a free agent, despite an extension being on the table in LS11.
With Alex Cairns expected to stay on, the experienced keeper isn't going to start, so Perri is automatically a guaranteed starter.
Perri hasn't been written off completely, and a year of Premier League football could see him bounce back.
After staying in the Premier League, Leeds need to strengthen their squad further and right now, splashing millions on another goalkeeper isn't a priority.
Signed for £13.9million from Lyon, the South American will be desperate to prove himself, and that could work well for Leeds.
Much will depend on Darlow, but other priorities such as new defenders, another striker and seemingly a midfielder is where Farke is looking.
Right now, Leeds can't sanction an exit for Perri at all costs.
