Leeds United make Darko Gyabi transfer decision after Archie Gray exit

Leeds United have finalised their decision regarding Darko Gyabi following the departure of Archie Gray, confirming that the 20-year-old midfielder will join Plymouth Argyle on loan for the upcoming 2024/25 Championship season.

Announcing the move on their official website [2 July], the Whites added that Gyabi, who previously impressed during his stint with the Pilgrims, will aim to get regular pitch time and gain valuable first-team experience.

Last season, the youngster went on to make nine Championship starts and one substitute appearance before his loan was prematurely ended by a groin injury and he returned to Leeds ahead of having surgery.

Gyabi is Argyle’s second summer signing, following left wing-back Nathanael Ogbeta from Championship rivals Swansea City.

And the news comes right after the Whites announced the departure of Gray to Tottenham Hotspur in a deal that also saw Joe Rodon return to Elland Road on a permanent basis.

Darko Gyabi will benefit from his move away from Leeds United

Gyabi’s return to Plymouth Argyle on loan from Leeds United for the upcoming season presents a fantastic opportunity for the 20-year-old midfielder to further his career.

After making a strong impression in his initial loan spell, where he showed his skills across ten appearances before being sidelined by injury, Gyabi is expected to pick up where he left off.

Named February’s Player of the Month, his performances in various midfield roles showed his versatility and potential.

And with Plymouth’s new head coach Wayne Rooney endorsing his abilities, describing him as a perfect fit for their squad’s style of play, Gyabi’s return is eagerly anticipated.

As he joins the team for pre-season, there’s optimism among Plymouth fans about his role in shaping the Pilgrims’ midfield under Rooney’s guidance.
