Leeds United make Cian Coleman announcement today

Leeds United have announced that Cian Coleman has extended his spell at National League North side Buxton until January.

The Whites confirmed the news via X [21 November], with Coleman having initially been set to return to West Yorkshire in December after agreeing on a one-month loan move.

However, his dazzling form for Buxton has warranted a loan extension, and the Under-21s star will be allowed to continue his development at the Derbyshire outfit until the New Year.

Cian Coleman is enjoying his football away from Leeds United

Coleman has been a revelation at Buxton, scoring four goals and adding two assists in seven appearances to catapult the side to sixth place, well within a shout of promotion to the National League.

The 20-year-old is thriving in his first taste of senior football in the lower divisions and is single-handedly deciding matches for Buxton, including a hat-trick in the 3-2 win against Scunthorpe United.

His resurgence into becoming a key figure in the National League North will be a welcome surprise for Leeds; thus far, Coleman has failed to break into the first team at Elland Road, clocking only 28 appearances for the Under-21s side.

However, his confidence will be soaring in Derbyshire, and while he continues to outperform his loan teammates, he is best served remaining away from Thorp Arch for as long as possible with his temporary side launching a promotion bid.

Coleman may not be the most coveted prospect in the Leeds academy, but progress is not linear, and who knows, the Republic of Ireland Under-19s international could be ready to challenge the status quo following his return from Buxton.
