Leeds United make approach to seal early Natan Grima transfer

Leeds United have made an approach for Reggiana attacking midfielder Natan Girma, according to Il Resto del Carlino.

The Italian outlet reported that the playmaker, who recorded six goals and three assists last season, will be available for no less than £3.4million.

Monza and Watford are also interested in the 2001-born Swiss youngster, who is said to be ready to explode moving into next season where his price will likely rise.

Summer transfer rebuild must start quickly at Leeds United

Girma is just one of the players that Leeds could pursue in the early stages of this summer; a second year in the Championship means the Whites will have to cut their financial cloth accordingly.

Minus the Premier League riches now afforded to the likes of Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton, all of whom beat them to promotion, Daniel Farke’s side could look wildly different by the time August rolls around.

With £190million in outstanding transfer fees reportedly to pay off [Kieran Maguire] – much of which is for previously-departed loanees who will return to the club this summer – fees akin to the rough £3million Reggiana wants for Girma will be commonplace.

Should, as is expected, players like Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto leave the club this summer, Leeds’ depth in attacking midfield will therefore need replenishing.

Signing Germa as a cut-price replacement could prevent a lengthy transfer saga – like that of Nadiem Amiri last summer – and prevent problems arising in a season which Farke simply has to get right if he’s to be seen as a success at Leeds United.
