Leeds United have been hot on the case of San Lorenzo's Orlando Gill this summer.

The Whites are hoping to sign a new goalkeeper, despite the arrival of James Trafford.

The departures of Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow mean that Alex Cairns is the only other option in between the sticks, with Lucas Perri still expected to leave Elland Road before the end of the window.

Perri looked likely to join Torino on a loan-to-buy obligation, but interest from Juventus has caused some complications, though his LS11 departure is still expected one way or another.

With that said, Daniel Farke is keen to sign a new shot-stopper who can act as deputy to Trafford this season.

Gill has been rumoured to be that man for Leeds, but Farke and Co. may have now been dealt another transfer twist.

Orlando Gill deal agreed amid Leeds bid rumours

Leeds reportedly made an offer to sign Gill, with the intention of making the 26-year-old the back-up option for Trafford.

However, San Lorenzo's president Marcelo Culotta recently contradicted those claims, confirming there had been no bids.

Now, as reported by Fabrizio Romano on Sunday, Gill looks set to join French side Lille.

The keeper, who has been described as a "hero" after his performances for Paraguay at the World Cup, is set to join Lille after a deal was agreed in the region of £3.1million.

The deal includes a major 50 per cent sell-on clause, with Gill now set to play under Davide Ancelotti in France.

Now Leeds will have to look for a new goalkeeper to target as the second choice to Trafford.

They may already know who that could be.

Who Leeds could target as chase for Gill concludes

Leeds accepted defeat in their hopes of keeping Darlow at Elland Road earlier this summer, but understood the keeper's choice to earn a healthier wage with Manchester United.

It's understood that Farke wanted the veteran shot-stopper to remain in North Yorkshire as the second-choice keeper this season, but the club's hopes were cut short quickly.

But the Whites may know who there replacement for Darlow is after their pursuit of Gill has seemingly come to an end.

According to Sky Sports, Leeds are lining up a deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt's Michael Zetterer.

It's said that a deal between the clubs is close, but some hurdles remain before an agreement can be reached.
