Leeds United learn 'most probable outcome' for Roony Bardghji as Barcelona plans in place
Leeds United have again been namechecked as a team interested in signing Roony Bardghji from Barcelona, with an exit plan in place.
Bardghji only joined Barcelona from FC Copenhagen last summer for a fee of around £1.7million.
The Sweden international was considered one of the hottest young prospects around at the time.
However, he was restricted to just seven LaLiga starts last season - and 14 more from the substitutes' bench - as he struggled to hold down a spot.
Bardghji now looks set to depart Camp Nou this window, but only on a loan deal.
Leeds are very much in the running to land the 20-year-old as a fresh update emerges from Spain.
Roony Bardghji and Leeds latest as offers update shared
Bardghji is having to compete with Lamine Yamal for a starting spot at Barca, so it is understandable why his playing time has been limited.
He scored one goal and assisted one more in the Spanish top flight last season when used.
Leeds recently learned that Bardghji is available on loan, which would clearly suit the Whites perfectly.
Rather than committing what would likely be a sizeable fee for a talent still proving himself, Leeds first get the chance to trial him, so to speak.
Now, a report from Mundo Deportivo on Friday reiterates Barcelona's stance and provides a further update.
The report, titled "Barca activates the departure operation", states "the most probable outcome" for Bardghji is a spell out on loan.
Leeds are the only side namechecked with an interest, but the report makes clear that no concrete offers have yet been made.
And Leeds may have a pathway to sign someone who then-Copenhagen boss Jacob Neestrub once said has "an extraordinary ability to decide matches".
Barcelona face 'significant obstacle' - but it benefits Leeds
Given his status 12 months ago, it came as a surprise that Bardghji was not part of Sweden's World Cup squad.
The same report shares how that is a "significant obstacle" in Barca's plans to ship the player out, as he is unable to showcase his talents.
While that may be bad news for Barcelona, it means Leeds have the chance to pounce if they are indeed interested.
Bardghji has had time to refresh since the end of last season and is not due back for pre-season training for another fortnight.
If Leeds are to move, now is the time to do so.
